Children

Very few modern games have children in them despite including locations where you'd expect to see at least some. Occasionally their absence is explained away, sometimes even convincingly (e.g. Half-Life 2). Though this lack is mostly prevalent in games meant for the "young adults", which usually are hyper-violent shooter or beat 'em up games.

If one can encounter them only during a growing phase of a game, then this does NOT apply.
