Drag and drop

Software concept

An user interface technique where items are moved to their wanted destinations by dragging them there.

Name variations: drag & drop, drag-and-drop

The first video game about Drag and drop was released on June 1, 1994.

Blue Manchu, 3909 and Atari has published most of these games

This is as opposed to selecting from a complicated menu where the object will go (if there even is multiple choices).

Common simple interactions are dragging equippable items to their slots, dragging anything to quickslots, dragging objects out of the inventory (thus dropping them), and so forth.

Extremely common in pointer driven interfaces and even more so in case of touchscreens.
