The first video game about Swarmers was released in 1985.

Origin, Devolver Digital and Pony Canyon has published most of these games

Contrast:
* Elite NPCs
* Boss battles
Although every opponent can be said to belong to this, these are a bit different in that where others appear in groups of 3-10 or so, these come in significantly larger swarms (around thrice bigger or likely more).

These are commonly much faster than most other enemies.

Limitations:
* Shmups should not be included as this is the norm in them.
* Does not include singular beings depicted as many with only high miss chance for anyone attacking them attached (such as a wasp swarm in old 2D games).
