Alternate name: Pet system

Without companion tag, these can be assumed to help with the player with things the protagonist can do even alone, but the pet makes them somewhat easier. That is to say, the pet is not necessary.

Unlike companions pets can be replaced usually quite easily and do not cause game over if they die.
Related:
* Companion - in case the pet is integral to the story or gameplay.
* Minions - in case you can have a number of pets or other lesser creatures helping you, usually these exist only briefly unlike pets.
* Drone
* Summoning
* Virtual pets
